How to pair your Garmin watch heart rate to Peloton

August 1, 2025

You don't need an extra service in order to pair your Garmin watch heart rate to Peloton.

Most Garmin watches can broadcast heart rate data directly so you can connect them to Peloton devices as standard heart rate monitors.

Benefits

Sending your heart rate to Peloton allows you to earn a Peloton strive score during your workouts.

If you send your Peloton workouts to Strava and those Peloton workouts have heart rate data, then Strava will be able to calculate a Training Load score for those workouts.

If you use SyncMyWorkout, and you pair your heart rate from your Garmin watch to Peloton, this will enable your synced workouts in Garmin to qualify for Garmin intensity minutes.

Instructions

The first step is to find the instructions specific to your watch; when you open your owner's manual search for "broadcast heart rate".

Most Garmin watches support two methods of starting a heart rate broadcast:

  • through the Heart Rate widget
  • or by setting up activity profiles (like "Indoor Bike") to automatically start broadcasting heart rate when you start an activity recording. This method will appear in the documentation as a "TIP" section near the top of the broadcasting heart rate page - shown below for a Forerunner 955 - your model may vary.

Once your watch is broadcasting heart rate, then you can pair the signal like any other heart rate monitor to the Peloton: instructions here.

At SyncMyWorkout we recommend selecting your watch's ANT+ signal instead of the BLE signal when you pair with the Peloton. We find it to be more reliable. The ANT+ signal will show as "device: 1233432" or something like that instead of your watch name.

That's it! We wish you the best with your training!
